Aerospace Composites
Nine Gs utilizes aerospace grade composite materials for its thermoset carbon rims. Aerospace composite materials are not the standard in cycling components because they are more expensive than  lower-grade commercial composite materials. This is justified by their superior properties, and because they must be certified for their use in flying vehicles.

Nine Gs carbon rims are made from carbon fibers and epoxy resins of the highest possible quality - and it shows.

Carbon Fabrics
Bicycle wheels are subjected to dynamic loads applied from multiple directions or angles caused by sprinting, cornering, braking, or riding over rough terrain. The complex nature of these loads makes the use of a high percentage of unidirectional fibers with a predominant orientation inappropriate for optimum carbon rim design. Unidirectional carbon creates an extremely strong structure in one direction and it is not as capable of providing strength in other directions. This is due to the lower strength and lower elastic modulus of the resin, which is dominant in the transverse direction. Unidirectional carbon rims may be lighter, but they also tend to be weaker and more flexible. Multidirectional, or woven carbon fabrics provide the attributes necessary to optimize carbon rim design. Nine Gs utilizes plies of fabrics with bi-directional carbon fibers applied in several angles to ensure the high mechanical properties of the carbon-epoxy laminate are as equally distributed as possible. Because of this, Nine Gs wheels are not only light but also very strong, stiff, and durable, capable of withstanding forces in all directions with minimum deformation – attributes unmatched by unidirectional rims.
