TALOS
The TALOS is considered the "climbing" wheel by Nine Gs although its strengths are much broader than just rolling uphill. What makes it extraordinary compared to other light weight climbing wheels on the market is that it retains many of the advantages of it's bigger brother, the Exos. It is a climbing wheel that is not only light, it is also extremely stiff, agile and aerodynamic - making it our most versatile wheelset.
Ask anyone who owns a pair of feathery "climbing" wheels if they would ride them in a downtown criterium with confidence, or if they would be their wheel of choice on a flat road race. No? The Talos is built to excel in any situation - climbing, descending, sprinting, criteriums, and even time trials. Their lower profile rim allows for quick acceleration and better control in high crosswind situations or descents. They glide through any terrain and attack with the speed of a bird of prey. Careful consideration was given to the spoke configuration, rim depth and construction process to create a wheel that is truly in a class of it's own; ultra-smooth, light and quick – a wheel that will appease the mountain climbers and criterium racers alike.
Built around the 3 Series rim, they are available in both carbon tubular and aluminum-carbon clincher configurations. The tubular is the lightest of the wheel sets and is widely preferred by many for race day wheels - although the durability of the T3 tubular rim could be considered even as an everyday wheel. The carbon rim utilizes Nine Gs HM Braking Technology for stopping power simialr to a high-end machined aluminum rim - in even the worst of conditions.
The carbon-aluminum version - the C3-A - mechanically integrates the carbon and aluminum components into an exceptionally strong and durable rim, designed for a very consistent and reliable wheel for racing and training in any condition.
Both versions of the Talos are built using DT Swiss 240s hubs and Aerolite spokes. With 20 radially laced spokes in the front and 24 laced 2-cross in the rear, the Talos is the perfect balance between light weight, high acceleration and stiffness.
