ABOUT US TERMS & CONDITIONS MEDIA TESTIMONIALS ![]() COMPANY Nine Gs creates high-performance sport products for high-performance people. The company, founded by Sergio Perez Fontana, an Aerospace Engineer with extensive experience in aircraft design and engineering, has its head office located in the US, Seattle, Washington area. Nine Gs uses aerospace design, analysis, testing, advanced materials and manufacturing technologies to develop cycling products exclusively for racing, training, fitness, and intense sports recreation. NAME Nine Gs: Nine times the acceleration of gravity. PRODUCTS Currently, Nine Gs’ focus is on its unique T5 heavy-duty tubular 55mm carbon rims manufactured with aerospace grade carbon composites using a proprietary monocoque press forming technology, and on the Exos wheels assembled with DT-Swiss 240s hubs and Aerolite bladed spokes. NINE GS THINKING: BETTER UNDERSTANDING. The core purpose of Nine Gs carbon rims and wheels is to increase people’s cycling performance. We believe that with a better understanding of cycling, aerospace engineering knowledge, and innovative design solutions we can change the meaning of high-performance. We also believe in being authentic with our audience. We’ve noticed that in the cycling industry a lot of emphasis is given to being “light” and “fast”, and observed a tendency to overstate benefits of some irrelevant design solutions. As many cyclists may have already noticed, “light” and “fast” are very important attributes for high-performance, but not the most important ones, and many of the so-called innovative solutions don’t add that much to, or even impose limits, to performance. Accordingly, the Nine Gs Exos wheels and T5 rims have been optimized to exceed the limitations currently found in many carbon wheels and rims. They are high quality, strong, stiff, adequately light and aerodynamic, stable, comfortable, and most importantly durable. The Exos are designed to be the best all-around wheels for demanding and tough cyclists who want to invest in one wheelset system that can be used for everyday training, different road racing conditions, and cyclocross. WHY HIGHER PERFORMANCE? Being “light” is a relative measure of performance. Too light might become flexible and weak. Carbon wheels are expensive and should last. For durability, the heavy-duty Nine Gs T5 carbon rims and the Exos wheels have enough material as well as the structural integrity required to endure the characteristic loads encountered in regular training and racing conditions by most cyclists. We could make the rims lighter by simply reducing the amount of material used, but then we would make them weaker, more flexible, less durable, and we would have to impose low weight limits for riders. As for being “fast”, it is important to recognize that low aerodynamic drag from the wheels helps, but its contribution to total drag is much less than the drag of bicycle and rider and their interference. Drag measurements of isolated wheels are useful for comparison of different wheel geometries, but say little regarding how they affect interference drag. Also, constant high speed, only for which aerodynamic drag really matters, is not the only condition experienced in racing. Most racing conditions involve change of speed. For winning races, the main attributes of Nine Gs Exos carbon wheels are acceleration and deceleration. To increase speed, the force generated by the cyclist must be efficiently converted into traction. Light and flexible wheels produce human energy losses and less acceleration. Nine Gs wheels and rims are extremely stiff to reduce human energy losses and improve acceleration performance. To decrease speed, braking must be powerful, and kinetic energy must be efficiently dissipated. Nine Gs wheels and rims feature a proprietary raised corrugated braking surface design and a special material to improve braking performance for both dry and wet conditions. We understand that performance limited to a few races and only for light cyclists is good, but it is not really high performance for most conditions and cyclists. We understand that high speed performance is good, but wheel stiffness and braking can do more than low drag for high performance. All of this at a reasonable price. … Experience better understanding. NINE GS - PERFORMANCE CYCLING BEYOND LIMITS ™ BETTER UNDERSTANDING. |
